Muscle Stimulator Machines
WALKSTIM
WALKSTIM® is a single-channel functional electrical stimulator (FES) designed specifically for dropped foot in upper motor neuron conditions. Controlled by a footswitch, it delivers timed electrical stimulation synchronised with the patient’s gait cycle. With a frequency range of 20–120 Hz, pulse width of 400–1000 µs, output current of 10–100 mA, symmetrical and asymmetrical biphasic waveforms and adjustable ramp, delay and extension timing, it provides the stimulation parameters needed for functional walking applications. At just 400g with a graphic OLED display and 9V rechargeable battery, it is designed to be worn or carried during use.

FES Output Control for Dropped Foot Applications
WALKSTIM® provides footswitch-triggered functional electrical stimulation with adjustable frequency, pulse width, ramp timing and biphasic waveform selection — purpose-built for gait-synchronised dropped foot applications in a 400g rechargeable unit.
Footswitch-Controlled Gait Synchronisation
A footswitch placed inside the patient’s shoe triggers stimulation in sync with the walking cycle. Stimulation activates when the heel lifts (swing phase) and stops when the foot contacts the ground (stance phase). This closed-loop, gait-synchronised control delivers FES at the functionally relevant moment — distinguishing WALKSTIM® from general-purpose muscle stimulators that use fixed-timing ON/OFF cycles.
Adjustable FES Parameters — 20–120 Hz, 10–100 mA
Frequency range of 20–120 Hz with pulse width adjustable from 400 to 1000 microseconds and output current from 10 to 100 mA. Output time is adjustable from 0.3 to 6 seconds. These ranges allow physiotherapists to configure the stimulation intensity, contraction strength and timing to match the patient’s specific functional requirements and muscle response.
Ramp, Delay & Extension Timing
Adjustable ramp time (0–2 sec) controls how quickly stimulation reaches full intensity after the footswitch triggers. Delay (0–2 sec) adds a pause between the trigger and stimulation onset. Extension time (0–2 sec) continues stimulation briefly after the footswitch deactivates. These timing parameters allow the stimulation profile to be shaped around each patient’s gait pattern and walking speed.
Symmetrical & Asymmetrical Biphasic Waveforms
Offers both symmetrical and asymmetrical biphasic output waveforms. Symmetrical biphasic delivers equal positive and negative phases for balanced charge distribution. Asymmetrical biphasic allows different phase amplitudes. Waveform selection gives physiotherapists flexibility to choose the output profile that produces the most effective and comfortable muscle response for each patient.
Exercise Mode with ON/OFF/Ramp Control
A dedicated exercise mode provides timed, cyclic stimulation with adjustable exercise duration (5–100 minutes), exercise ON period (1–10 sec), exercise OFF period (1–10 sec) and exercise ramp time (1–10 sec). This mode operates independently of the footswitch, allowing WALKSTIM® to be used for structured FES exercise sessions in addition to gait-synchronised walking applications.
400g with OLED Display & Rechargeable Battery
At just 400g and 80 × 30 × 120 mm, WALKSTIM® is designed to be worn on a belt or carried in a pocket during walking. A graphic OLED display shows all active parameters clearly. Powered by a 9V rechargeable battery with dual-power capability (mains input 100–240V AC also supported). Soft-touch keys handle program selection and parameter adjustment. Certified to IEC 60601-1 (Class I, Type BF). Also designed for veterinary care. Manufactured by HMS Medical Systems.
