WALKSTIM
WALKSTIM® is a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Muscle Stimulator designed specifically for dropped foot and gait-related rehabilitation applications. It uses footswitch-controlled stimulation to synchronise electrical stimulation with the patient’s walking cycle, supporting functional muscle activation at the appropriate stage of gait. With adjustable stimulation parameters, timing controls, exercise mode and a rechargeable battery, WALKSTIM® provides a practical wearable solution for functional walking applications.

WALKSTIM® combines footswitch-triggered stimulation with adjustable FES parameters, timing controls and exercise functionality to support targeted rehabilitation for dropped foot and functional walking applications.
Footswitch-Controlled Gait Synchronisation
A footswitch triggers stimulation in coordination with the patient’s walking cycle. This allows electrical stimulation to be delivered at the appropriate stage of gait rather than using fixed ON/OFF stimulation timing.
Adjustable FES Treatment Parameters
WALKSTIM® provides adjustable frequency from 20–120 Hz, pulse width from 400–1000 μs and output current from 10–100 mA. These settings allow physiotherapists to tailor stimulation according to treatment requirements and patient response.
Ramp, Delay & Extension Timing
Adjustable ramp, delay and extension settings provide greater control over when stimulation begins, reaches the selected intensity and stops. This allows the stimulation profile to be better coordinated with individual gait patterns.
Symmetrical & Asymmetrical Biphasic Waveforms
The device supports both symmetrical and asymmetrical biphasic waveforms, providing flexibility when selecting the stimulation pattern. Physiotherapists can choose the waveform that best suits the intended muscle response and treatment approach.
Exercise Mode for Structured FES
A dedicated exercise mode provides timed and cyclic stimulation with adjustable exercise duration and ON/OFF periods. Ramp control can also be configured, allowing structured FES sessions to be performed independently of the footswitch.
Wearable Design with Rechargeable Battery
At approximately 400 g, WALKSTIM® is designed to be worn or carried during use. Its graphic OLED display provides clear visibility of treatment settings, while the rechargeable battery supports convenient operation during walking and rehabilitation sessions.
